Privacy Policy
After Action is a fully local iOS application. Your information is stored on your device — not on our servers, not in the cloud, not shared with anyone.
| Data storage | Your information is stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData unless you choose to export or share it outside the app. |
|---|---|
| Developer collection | We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or monetize your personal, military, medical, or claim information. |
| Tracking | We do not track you across apps or websites and do not use third-party advertising SDKs. |
| Third-party sharing | We do not send your claim data to the VA, medical providers, advertisers, analytics companies, or cloud providers. |
| User control | You can edit or delete app records on your device. You control any exports, screenshots, backups, or files you choose to share. |
After Action ("After Action," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the After Action iOS application handles information that you choose to enter into the app.
After Action is designed to help United States military veterans and service members document medical conditions, organize evidence, and prepare information related to potential U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ("VA") disability claims. The app is built to keep this information under your control on your device.
After Action is a fully local iOS application. Information you enter is stored locally on your device using Apple SwiftData and iOS security protections. We do not operate user accounts, cloud storage, developer servers, analytics profiles, advertising systems, or third-party tracking for your claim data.

1. Who we are
Gray Company Limited, LLC, doing business as After Action, is the provider of the After Action iOS application.
Contact us about this Privacy Policy at:
- Gray Company Limited
- Email: afteractionveteranservices@gmail.com
- In-app support, if available: Settings > Support
2. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the After Action iOS application and to information you enter, create, store, import, or export through the app.
This policy does not apply to information you choose to submit directly to the VA, a healthcare provider, an attorney, a Veterans Service Organization, Apple, iCloud, email providers, cloud storage providers, or any other third party outside of After Action.
3. Information you may store in the app
After Action allows you to enter and organize information on your own device. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- Profile information, such as your name, contact details, service branch, service dates, rank, MOS/AFSC/Rating, duty stations, deployments, and related service history.
- Claim preparation information, such as claimed conditions, symptoms, in-service events, nexus notes, impact statements, personal notes, and checklist items.
- Health-related information that you choose to enter, such as diagnoses, symptoms, treatment history, medications, appointments, referrals, testing, limitations, and condition narratives.
- Evidence information, such as document titles, notes, file references, photos, PDFs, scanned records, personal statements, buddy statement notes, and other materials you choose to add.
- Tasks, reminders, and appointment details that you create for your own organization.
This information is created and stored by you locally within the app. We do not receive or review this information.
4. Information we collect
We do not collect personal data, health data, claim data, military service data, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers from the After Action app.
For Apple App Store privacy disclosures, our intended disclosure for the current local-only version is: "Data Not Collected," because the app does not transmit user data to us or to third parties through the app.
Important exceptions and clarifications:
- Information stored locally on your device may still be visible to anyone who can unlock your device or access your device backups.
- If you voluntarily email us for support, submit a web form, or contact us outside the app, we will receive the information you choose to provide in that communication.
- Apple may process information related to App Store downloads, updates, crash reports, subscriptions, purchases, refunds, or device-level diagnostics according to Apple policies and your Apple settings. That information is handled by Apple, not by After Action.
- If a future version adds cloud sync, accounts, analytics, subscriptions handled outside Apple, or any feature that transmits app data off device, we will update this Privacy Policy and App Store privacy disclosures before or at the time those changes take effect.
5. Local storage and SwiftData
After Action stores app records locally using SwiftData, Apple's framework for managing persistent data on device. The app is designed so your claim preparation information remains on your device and is not transmitted to After Action servers.
Local storage means:
- Your records are stored on the device where you use the app.
- We do not maintain a developer-side copy of your app records.
- Deleting the app may delete locally stored app data, depending on iOS behavior and your backup or restore settings.
- Your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, iOS data protection, and your personal device security practices are important safeguards for your information.
6. iCloud, backups, and device features
After Action does not provide developer-operated cloud storage. However, Apple device features may affect your data depending on your settings.
- If iCloud Backup or device backup is enabled, Apple may include app data in device backups unless excluded by app configuration or Apple settings.
- If you export files, PDFs, screenshots, or summaries from After Action and save them to Files, iCloud Drive, email, Messages, AirDrop, or another app, those copies are controlled by the destination service and its privacy practices.
- If you use iOS sharing features, you are responsible for confirming the recipient and destination before sharing sensitive information.
7. How we use information
Because After Action does not collect app data from you, we do not use your personal, military, medical, or claim information for developer-side purposes.
On your device, the app uses the information you enter only to provide app functionality, such as:
- Organizing conditions, notes, evidence, tasks, appointments, and claim preparation materials.
- Displaying, sorting, filtering, and updating your local records.
- Creating summaries, exports, or other outputs that you choose to generate locally or share.
8. How we share information
We do not share your personal, military, medical, or claim information because we do not collect it from the app.
- We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your information.
- We do not share app data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, cloud storage vendors, the VA, healthcare providers, or Veterans Service Organizations.
- We do not use your information for tracking, targeted advertising, marketing profiles, or cross-app profiling.
- We do not submit VA claims for you and do not transmit your records to the VA.
9. Permissions and Apple privacy controls
After Action may request access to certain iOS features only when needed for app functionality. The exact permissions depend on the features you use and the version of the app.
| Permission | Why it may be used | User control |
|---|---|---|
| Photos or Files | To let you import, attach, or export evidence or claim preparation documents. | You choose which files or photos to select, and you may manage permissions in iOS Settings. |
| Camera | To let you capture images of documents or evidence, if this feature is enabled. | You can deny or revoke camera access in iOS Settings. |
| Notifications | To provide local reminders for tasks, appointments, or claim preparation items. | You can allow, deny, or change notification settings in iOS Settings. |
| Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode | To help protect access to the app, if app lock functionality is enabled. | You control biometric and passcode settings through iOS. |
10. Security
After Action is designed around local-first privacy and device-level security. Security protections may include:
- Local SwiftData storage rather than developer-operated cloud storage.
- Reliance on iOS device security, including device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, sandboxing, and Apple data protection features.
- No developer-side account database containing your claim information.
- No third-party advertising SDKs or tracking SDKs.
- Optional local notifications instead of email-based reminders containing sensitive details.
No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure. You should protect your device with a strong passcode, enable Face ID or Touch ID where appropriate, keep iOS updated, avoid sharing your unlocked device, and be careful when exporting or sharing sensitive records.
11. Health information and HIPAA
After Action may help you store health-related information locally on your device. However, After Action is not the VA, is not a healthcare provider, does not provide medical advice, does not diagnose conditions, and does not submit claims on your behalf.
Because the current version does not collect, receive, maintain, transmit, or process your app data on developer systems, After Action does not operate as a cloud custodian of your health information. HIPAA may not apply to After Action in the same way it applies to covered healthcare providers, health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, or their business associates. You should consult qualified counsel or the applicable regulator for legal determinations about HIPAA or other health privacy laws.
12. Your choices and controls
- Access and correction: You can view and edit your records directly in the app.
- Deletion: You can delete individual records in the app. You may also delete the app from your device to remove local app data, subject to iOS backup and restore behavior.
- Export and sharing: You control whether to export, screenshot, print, email, AirDrop, or otherwise share your records outside the app.
- Notifications: You can manage notification permissions through iOS Settings and in-app settings, if available.
- Device backups: You can manage iCloud and device backup settings through Apple settings.
13. Data retention
Because your app data is stored locally, retention is primarily controlled by you and by iOS. Records remain in the app until you delete them, delete the app, reset your device, or change backup and restore settings in a way that affects the data.
If you contact us outside the app for support, we may retain that support communication for a reasonable period to respond to your request, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Do not include sensitive medical, military, or claim information in support communications unless necessary.
14. Children's privacy
After Action is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app is local-only, we do not receive app data from users. If you believe a child has contacted us directly outside the app and provided personal information, please contact us so we can address the issue.
15. Third-party websites and services
The app or related materials may reference third-party resources, such as VA websites, Apple services, email providers, cloud storage services, or legal and benefits resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Review their privacy policies before submitting information to them.
16. App Store privacy disclosure
For the current local-only iOS version, After Action is intended to be disclosed in App Store Connect as not collecting data from the app. If Apple requires more specific disclosures based on future features, third-party SDKs, diagnostics, purchases, subscriptions, or other integrations, we will update the disclosure to match the actual data practices of the app.
This Privacy Policy is intended to be made available through the App Store privacy policy URL field and within the app where users can reasonably access it.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, technology, legal requirements, or our business practices. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice as appropriate, such as through the app or the App Store listing.
